Bostondane Blue Genes 'Levi'

“Levi” and the exceptional gene pool he was created from, we would not have been afforded the opportunity to have produced some of the finest blue French Bulldogs available in the US.

Although, it is doubtful I’ll ever know where the dilution allele originated behind Levi’s great grandsire, the blue brindle pied, Banerjee Bon Homme, the one thing I am certain of is that both his sire, Wilcott Eddison and his dam, Banerjee Bouzy Rouge were either standard colored Frenchies that carried the ‘d’ allele or one or both of those UK bred dogs were in fact blue.

Banerjee Bon Homme is a blue brindle pied, and he cannot be blue without inheriting one copy of the ‘d’ allele from both sire and dam; therefore if Eddison and Bouzy Rouge were both dilute carriers and not actually blue, then where did they inherit their dilution allele?

Literally, this is a question for the ages.  We have studied and pondered and questioned those kennels behind Banerjee Bon Homme and with no success.

For the most part, the subject is simply taboo with the breeders in England, so trying to get information regarding which dog(s) in the pedigree carried the gene that made it possible for Banerjee Bon Homme to be born blue brindle pied, is tantamount to finding a needle in a haystack.

It has been 9 years, and we still have not uncovered the mystery surrounding where did that ‘dilute gene’ originate and it is highly likely that we will never know the answer to that question.

However, we are truly grateful for the following:

1. that Kennel LeBull imported Banerjee Bon Homme to the USA and used him in their breeding program
2. that Kennel LeBull exported LeBulls Once In a Blue Moon ‘Trophy’ to Bostondane Kennel, Australia
3. that Bostondane Kennel, Australia, used Trophy in their breeding program
4. that Bostondane Kennel bred the incredible blue brindle boy, Bostondane Blue Genes, and allowed us the opportunity to bring “Levi” to Texas

Levi sired our two wonderful Bullistik bred blue boys, Denim and BeeGee, and those two boys have gone on to produce some incredible offspring of their own, and you will get to meet their children and grandchildren here on my site.
