BeeGee

‘BeeGee’ (short for Blue Genes) is Denim’s litter brother and our first born blue brindle pied.  He is sired by Bostondane Blue Genes and out of Into The Wild Blue Yonder ‘Yanni’.

To be truthful, I have never been a fan of what I term ‘mismarked’ pieds, because typically the eye rims on white faced or half-hooded pieds rarely get complete pigment and that kinda drives me a little crazy.

However, when BeeGee’s litter was born in 2005, he was ONE of the first TWO dilute Frenchies to be born at Bullistik, and although I would have preferred him to be a full hooded pied, there was no way on God’s green earth that I would part with him because he happened to be born without color over both eyes.

Once BeeGee matured, it was clear that I had made the right decision by keeping him and using him in my breeding program because you see, BeeGee is the sire of my two fabulous SOLID blue brindle girls, Hpnotiq and Moniqa, and my darling FULL HOODED blue brindle pied boy, Wrangler.

One of the remarkable qualities about BeeGee, aside from his rugged, handsome good looks and overall health, is that he produced more SOLIDS and FULL HOODED pied offspring than his solid brother, Denim.  Just goes to show that what you see is not always what you get, and I am so grateful that I was wise enough not to judge a book by its cover,  and let ‘color/markings’ cloud my judgment in regard to BeeGee’s potential role as a stud dog.

BeeGee turned out to be a phenomenal stud dog for us and although he is now retired from our program and living the good life on the beautiful Island of Hawaii, his children and grandchildren are continuing to make their contribution to the French Bulldog breed by producing gorgeous, sound, healthy, wonderful companions in a rainbow of colors.
